An issue of the Parlamentskaya gazeta finds home in a museum
28 October 2013
The edition of the newsletter, which is a house print of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, dated 27 April 2006 and wholly dedicated to the centennial of the Russian parliamentarism with a special focus on history – past and relatively recent – found its place in the Museum as an item of display.
The modern edition found its place in a showcase among extracts from the press of the early XX century. They tell the story of the first days of deliberations of the first parliament convened by the Emperor and offer windows into the life of St. Petersburg of that period. Later, they reported on the State Duma sessions, placed cartoons featuring its political leaders as well as ministers of the Imperial Government.
Today, the media often pungently criticizes parlamentarians, proving the effective succession of the mediatic styles and attitudes. One cannot escape this conclusion while on a visit to the Museum.
