Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations took place in Minsk

On 18 September, the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and Other Bodies of the Commonwealth, held its meeting on the premises of the CIS Executive Committee. The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus, Permanent Representative of Republic of Tajikistan Makhmadsharif Khakdod.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary of Sergey Lebedev and his deputies Victor Guminsky and Agybai Smagulov.

The participants of the meeting discussed the activities of the Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers (MSD), established in December 1992.

Deputy Chairman, Head of the Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers Buri Karimov informed participants about achievement of MSD.

Buri Karimov noted that the development of national roads and the road network of the CIS countries is the most important condition for promoting economic and cultural ties among the CIS nations, building a favorable investment climate, and ensuring the freedom of movement of population and cargo. Integration of the transport infrastructure of the CIS countries into the world transport system becomes part of the overall process of their integration into the global economic community.

In the reporting period, MSD enhanced cooperation with international organizations, developed a number of documents adopted by the CIS Economic Council and the Council of the CIS Heads of Government.

Lyudmila Nefedova reported on the preparation of the draft Agreement on Free Trade in Services.

Director of the Administrative Department of the CIS Executive Committee Vitaly Bus’ko, reported on the results of the meeting of the CIS Economic Council, which took place in Moscow on 14 September. During the meeting all draft documents submitted to draft agendas of upcoming meetings of the supreme bodies of the Commonwealth for this year were approved.

The next meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and Other Bodies of the Commonwealth is scheduled for 10 October.
