Council of the Permanent Representatives of the CIS Member Nations held its regular session in Minsk

The CIS Executive Committee provided a venue for the meeting of the Council of the Permanent Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and Other Bodies of the Commonwealth. The meeting was held via videoconferencing.

Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev attended the meeting.

The members of the Council of Permanent Representatives discussed the measures to increase the efficiency of preparing the sessions of the CIS supreme bodies.

The permanent plenipotentiary representatives also discussed the information on the activity, including that of the CIS Executive Committee, on the implementation of the resolution of the 4th CIS Congress of Teachers and Educators. It was decided to forward the information to the CIS Advisory Board on Cooperation in Education.

To improve the system of youth professional orientation, it was recommended to the CIS Advisory Board on Cooperation in Education to consider the possibility of broader participation in the international movement WorldSkills. It was also decided to discuss during the 5th CIS Congress of Teachers and Educators the issues related to the adaptation of the secondary education to current realities and the use of national and international children’s centers and summer camps to encourage cooperation in the field of supplementary education for children and young people. The next Congress which is expected to be held in Bishkek in September will be dedicated to the development of education in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The permanent plenipotentiary representatives were informed on the amendments to the draft agenda of the regular meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government to be held in Dushanbe in June 2018. The amendments will be sent to the Member Nations for consideration by the ministries and agencies concerned; the draft agenda will be available in March.

According to the press office of the CIS Executive Committee, the permanent representatives agreed the agenda of their next meeting and the agenda of the joint meeting of the Council of the Permanent Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and Other Bodies of the Commonwealth and the Economic Policies Commission at the CIS Economic Council.

During the meeting the candidature of Sergey Lebedev was approved for the position of Head of the CIS Observer Mission at the parliamentary elections in the Azerbaijan Republic to be held on 11 April 2018.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus, Permanent Representative of Republic of Tajikistan at the statutory and other bodies of the CIS Makhmadsharif Khakdod presided over the meeting. He informed the colleagues that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the UN, the OSCE Secretariat and other partners decided to co-organize the international conference Countering Terrorism and Radicalization in Dushanbe on 3-4 May 2018.
