Countering trafficking in human beings discussed in Minsk

According to the CIS Execom press-service, on 8-9 April in Minsk, the Drafting Group on the CIS Convention on Countering Human Trafficking held its regular session as a follow-up to the CIS Plan of Action on countering human trafficking for 2011-2013. The purpose of the Convention is to promote cooperation among the CIS Member Nations. The draft text sets out principles and priorities, building legal frameworks and institutions. The concept of cooperation is built on thoroughgoing analysis of this type of crime related to human trafficking in the Commonwealth. It sets our common responses to this common challenge.

This is the second meeting of the Drafting Group. The first was held last February in Minsk with the participation of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Balarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine and the IPA CIS Council Secretariat as well as other CIS bodies.
