Digest on development and activities of the Commonwealth in 2018 notes significant integrative role of the IPA CIS

The CIS Executive Committee published a regular digest of information and analytical materials “Development and Activities of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2018” (issue No. 7), noting a significant integrative role of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in addressing the issues of harmonization of national legislation in countering terrorism, and in other areas of relevance for the Commonwealth.

In particular, the digest includes a positive feedback on the activities of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security and the IPA CIS Joint Commission on Harmonization of Legislation in the Sphere of Security and Countering New Challenges and Threats, which had developed key model laws for the Commonwealth in this area.

Given the current importance of building common information space, the digest also recognizes the IPA CIS participation in improving model legislation in the sphere of information and communication technologies.

It also notes the participation of the IIMDD IPA CIS in the monitoring missions on the Commonwealth space.

The digest also reflects other important issues of the integration development within the Commonwealth. The full text is available at the CIS Executive Committee website and in the “Areas of Cooperation” section of the Commonwealth online portal.
