On 13-14 March, the CIS Executive Committee will host a meeting of the CIS Working Group on Cinematography.

The meeting will assess the efficiency of the implementation of treaties and decisions in the field of film industry which will help identify a mechanism of future work.

Nowadays, the legal framework in the field of film industry includes five documents. The CIS Executive Committee asked the members of the Working Group to analyze the effective international treaties across the CIS and decisions in this field taking into account current realities and cooperation prospects and submit proposals to amend the treaties or to terminate them and replace with the new ones.

According to the press office of the CIS Executive Committee, the Working Group received the proposals of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Confederation of Cinematographers Unions which will be discussed by the members of the Working Group.

The CIS Working Group on Cinematography was established in the framework of the CIS Advisory Board on Cultural Cooperation in 2011. At first, it included representatives of nine CIS Member States. The first meeting was held in 2012 to facilitate the implementation of two agreements – on cooperation in the field of cinematography and on joint film production.
