Labor migration, a spotlight theme for CIS experts

On 9-10 December, the expert team on drafting the Agreement on Principles of Alignment of Regulation on Employment and Labor Migration meets in Minsk.
The draft Agreement is aimed at energizing efforts of the CIS countries in removing gaps in labor regulations, including the legal status of foreign citizens, labor migration and job acquisition.
The agreement is based on the rule of law as the central principle in labor migration realities, commitment to promote employment and protect the rights of labor migrants, compliance of relevant regulation with the norms of international law and human rights standards, necessary action and accountability of public bodies responsible for law enforcement, ensuring transparency and accuracy of information related to employment and labor migration.
Harmonization of laws will include cooperation in drafting new legal texts, review of effective legislation in employment and labor migration considering the existing bi-lateral and multi-lateral arrangements.
