Meeting of CIS MoI Council in St. Petersburg

The CIS MoI Council meeting took place in Constantine Palace in St. Petersburg and brought together heads of interior offices from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Chairman of the CIS Execom – CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev.

The meeting resulted in adoption of important management decisions related to building a unified tool for search of stolen cars in the Commonwealth, ensuring civilian safety during mass sport and recreational events, development of a specific framework for combating illicit trafficking in smoking blends and other psychoactive and mood-altering substances.

Members of the Council also discussed response of national law-enforcement agencies to extremist threats and countering recruitment of CIS citizens to illegal units engaged in armed conflicts in the Middle East.

The meeting featured the transfer of chairmanship in the Council from Belarus to Russia. Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev became its new chair.
