Representatives of CIS countries discussed cooperation in countering new challenges and threats

Participants of the consultations included representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, the IPA CIS, the CIS Council of foreign ministers, the Council of Border troops commanders, the CIS Council of heads of security authorities and intelligence agencies, the CIS Executive Council, with Kyrgyzstan and Moldova as observers.

The participants looked into the issues of countering terrorism, radicalization and violent extremism, drug trafficking, including in the context of post-2014 factor, combating financing terrorism and money laundering, in particular through FATF and EAG.

They also discussed the approaches of the CIS members to combating new challenges and threats in the UN and other international organizations, as well as enhancing dedicated CIS structures countering NCTs (CIS ATC, CHSA, OCCOC).

IPA CIS Council Secretariat representative Yuriy Andreev briefed the participants of the consultations on the activity of the IPA CIS in countering NCTs.
