Security and humanitarian issues discussed in Minsk

The meeting that took place on 20 August featured the discussion of security and humanitarian cooperation.

President of the Plenipotentiary Council, Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of Belarus in Charter Bodies and other Organs of the Commonwealth Vassiliy Pugachev noted the efficiency of planned and targeted approach in joint security efforts, which is vividly exemplified by the reduction of criminal activity, a trend emerging throughout the CIS.

According to him, in humanitarian field, the main highlights included the declaration of year 2014 the Year of Tourism in the CIS and year 2015 the Year of Veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Besides, a summit in Minsk will designate the cultural capitals of the Commonwealth for 2014 and its participants will name a country to preside in the CIS next year.
