Efficient support of parliamentary activity discussed in the Tavricheskiy Palace

Raising efficiency of parliamentary support was discussed in the Tavricheskiy Palace by representatives of over 30 national parliaments and international parliamentary organizations during a seminar on Modern Technologies to Support Parliamentary Activities. Traditions and Challenges, including ECPRD, PA CE and European Parliament, as well as members of IPA CIS with stakeholders from non-European bodies.

In her message to the participants Chairperson of IPA CIS Council, President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, expressed confidence that this series of seminars involving a growing number of participants will take place in a lively, creative environment and wished the participants a fruitful discussion and success.

In his statement, IPA CIS Council Secretary General Alexey Sergeev noted that the Tavricheskiy Palace is a special place, which, on 27 April 1906, hosted the session of the first Russian Parliament – the State Douma. Last year saw the nomination of a new holiday of 27 April – the Day of Russian Parliamentarianism, to commemorate this historic episode of manifest significance.

He also spoke of drafting model laws, a core activity of the IPA CIS, as a way to consolidate and harmonize national legal systems across the Commonwealth.

Vladimir Svinaryov, Head of Executive Office of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, made a presentation at the thematic session New IT-related Requirements to the Executive Office Staff. Professional Upgrade and Functions.

Gherardo Casini, Head of Office, UN Global Center for ICT in Parliament was the keynote speaker at the seminar.
