Presidential elections are held every five years on Wednesday of the third week of October of the final year of the presidential term. This year it is 16 October. It is a holy day of Kourban Bayram. Therefore, the CEC decided to move the day of elections to later date. The decision was supported by 17 CEC members with one vote against. Election Day in Azerbaijan is traditionally a holiday.
Last presidential elections had voter turnout at 75 % of the five mio elegible voters in the country. 5491 polling stations will be open in the national territory and in diplomatic missions in 38 countries.
