Amendments to Armenian Electoral Legislation Discussed in Yerevan and St. Petersburg

On 15 December 2021, a roundtable on the topic “Political and Legal Significance of Amendments to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia” was held by videoconferencing. The event was organized by the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) and its Yerevan office.

The event brought together members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, judges of the Constitutional Court, employees of the President’s Office, the leadership of the Central Election Commission, representatives of local self-government bodies, public organizations, academic community and experts.

The roundtable was opened by Director of the IPA CIS IIMDD Yerevan office, Doctor of Law, Professor Vahram Avetisyan.

Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Ph.D. in Economics Hayk Chilingaryan and Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council – IIMDD Director, Doctor of Law, Professor Ivan Mushket delivered welcome speeches from St. Petersburg

Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Armenia, Ph.D. in Law Tigran Mukuchyan greeted the participants from Yerevan.

During the event, the authors of the research on the analysis of political and legal amendments to the electoral legislation of the Republic of Armenia made reports on the stability of the electoral legislation, election observation and legal regulation of pre-election campaigning.
