Global Elections Day Celebrated

On 14-17 September 2005, the Global Election Officials Conference took place in the Hungarian city of Siófok and decided to establish the Global Elections Day. Since then, this day is celebrated annually on the first Thursday of February and symbolizes the right of citizens to participate in elections and respect for democratic rights and freedoms. The CIS countries traditionally hold different events on electoral topics.
