IPA CIS International Observer Laid Flowers to Victory Monument in Dushanbe

The representatives of the IPA CIS parliaments and the IPA CIS Council Secretariat monitoring the presidential elections in the Republic of Tajikistan laid flowers to the eternal flame in the Victory Park to honor the memory of the citizens of the Republic, who bravely fought against Nazism during the Great Patriotic War.

Almost 290,000 citizens of the Tajik SSR went off to war, about 100,000 of them died. 56,000 Tajik people were awarded orders and medals for courage and bravery, 54 people got the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union, and 15 people became full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory.

During the war years the Republic was one of the evacuation centers, hosting wounded Red Army soldiers and tens of thousands of citizens from the other republics.

Laying flowers to the monuments of the common Victory is a tradition followed in all the Commonwealth countries. 2020 is declared the Year of the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Tomorrow, the IPA CIS international observers will continue monitoring in accordance with the individual schedules at the polling stations in Dushanbe and other settlements of the Republic.
