IPA CIS Observers Discussed Presidential Electoral Campaign in Tajikistan with Its Participants

On 10 October, the IPA CIS Observer Team met with head of the electoral headquarters of the presidential candidate Emomali Rahmon Abdudzhabbor Azizi and presidential candidate Rustam Latifzoda.

During the meeting, Abdudzhabbor Azizi told the observers about the electoral program of the presidential candidate President Emomali Rahmon. He particularly noted the increasing role of women in the legislative and executive branches and in the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan, where women accounted for almost half of the party members (48 percent).

Abdudzhabbor Azizi also noted the high activity of the youth as a feature of the current electoral campaign. He stressed the need to take the measures to fight the pandemic and avoid the proliferation of the virus during the voting.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator Oleg Melnichenko informed the participants on the composition and work of the observers and the working schedule on the election day.

Leader of the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan Rustam Latifzoda noted that all the candidates were provided with equal opportunities for campaigning. He said that he had not experienced arbitrary denials or opposition on behalf of the election administration bodies.
