IPA CIS Observers Approved Work Schedule at Presidential Elections in Moldova

The IPA CIS international observers at the elections of the President of the Republic of Moldova defined the work schedule for the upcoming days.

IPA CIS Council Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy opened the organizational meeting and reminded that the IPA CIS carried out monitoring of the elections in accordance with the invitation of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova.

43 observers from the IPA CIS were accredited for the monitoring of the elections at the polling stations in Moldova and abroad. The Observer Team is headed by Deputy Speaker of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Adil Aliyev. The Observer Team includes the representatives of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the IPA CIS Council Secretariat representatives, including the staff members and experts from the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development (IPA CIS IIMDD).

Adil Aliyev highlighted that the Team members made their conclusions based on the facts, and their goal was to gather information on the election process and verify that it was organized in accordance with the norms of national legislation and international law.

IPA CIS IIMDD Director Ivan Mushket briefed the participants with the experts’ conclusion on the compliance of the electoral legislation of Moldova with international standards and presented the work schedule of the Team.

Today, the observers will meet with the leadership of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova, the representatives of the Parliament and presidential candidates.

Tomorrow, on the election day, the observers will work at the polling stations in Chisinau, Balti and Comrat, as well as at the foreign polling stations in Baku (Azerbaijan Republic), Minsk (Republic of Belarus), Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russian Federation).
