IPA CIS Observers Defined Work Schedule at Snap Presidential Elections in Kyrgyz Republic

Yesterday, the IPA CIS international observers started the short-term monitoring of the snap elections in the Kyrgyz Republic and referendum on defining the form of government in the Kyrgyz Republic. Today, they held a meeting in Bishkek and defined goals and objectives of the monitoring and got informed with the work schedule for the next days.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Chair of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Defense, Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues Viktor Zavarzin and Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IIMDD) Ivan Mushket opened the meeting. They told about the composition of the group, noted the main principles and norms, including the political neutrality, impartiality and non-interference in the internal affairs of a country.

The participants of the meeting were briefed on the results of the long-term monitoring of the electoral campaign, carried out by the IIMDD staff members. The observers were provided with the analytical and information materials drafted by the IPA CIS IIMDD experts on the results of the long-term monitoring.

52 IPA CIS international observers were accredited for the monitoring of the presidential elections in the Kyrgyz Republic, including MPs and representatives of the highest legislative authorities from eight Member Nations, IPA CIS staff members and IPA CIS IIMDD experts. On the election day, the monitoring will be carried out at the polling stations in Bishkek, the settlements in the regions of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as at the foreign polling stations in Baku, Minsk, Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Saint Petersburg, Dushanbe and Berlin.
