IPA CIS Observers Met With Leadership of Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyz Republic

As part of the short-term monitoring of the snap elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the referendum to determine the form of government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the IPA CIS International Observers met with Acting President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Talant Mamytov.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Chair of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Defense, Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues Viktor Zavarzin, Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurbek Satvaldiev and Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) Ivan Mushket took part in the meeting at the Ala Archa State Residence.

During the meeting, Talant Mamytov expressed his gratitude to Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko for sending the observers to the Kyrgyz Republic. He also said that during the preparation for the snap elections, the experience of previous election campaigns was taken into account, which created equal conditions for participation for all registered candidates. Viktor Zavarzin reported on the long-term monitoring carried out by the IPA CIS IIMDD experts. As part of this process, the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic regulating the conduct of the elections was analyzed for its compliance with the international electoral standards and a report was prepared. In connection with the epidemiological situation, the IPA CIS IIMDD expert group carried out the long-term monitoring of the election in a remote mode and held several meetings with the participants of the electoral process via videoconferencing.
