IPA CIS Observers Discussed Features of Election Campaign in Kazakhstan with Its Participants

IPA CIS international observers held meetings in Astana with the leadership of the headquarters of presidential candidates in the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Jiguli Dairabaev and discussed the features recent innovations of the electoral campaign.

At the headquarters of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Secretary of the Amanat party Daulet Karibek told the observers about the main areas of activities during the pre-election period and work with youth as one of the key priorities of current campaign. Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy told about the composition of the Observer Team, which included 67 members, and stressed that IPA CIS observers follow the principles of objectivity, non-politicization, and non-interference in elections.

The monitoring group also met with the leadership of the headquarters of Jiguli Dairabaev nominated by the People’s Democratic Patriotic Party “Auyl”. Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – IPA CIS IIMDD Director Ivan Mushket spoke about the work of the Observer Team, its priorities and objectives. Head of the headquarters Toleutai Raqymbekov noted that there was no opposition from the executive branch or from the election commissions and stressed equal opportunities created for all candidates in the media and at meetings with voters.

International observers from the IPA CIS arrived in Astana today for the short-term monitoring of the presidential elections.
