IPA CIS Observers Held Meetings With Russian Parties “Green Alternative” and “Yabloko”

On 8 September, the representatives of International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) held meetings with political parties “Green Alternative” and “Yabloko” via videoconferencing. The event took place within the framework of the long-term monitoring of the elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to be held on 19 September 2021.

On behalf of the IPA CIS the event was attended by Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council, IPA CIS IIMDD Director Ivan Mushket, the IIMDD staff members and experts, international observers from the IIMDD Baku, Yerevan, Bishkek and Chisinau Offices. The political parties were represented by Deputy Chair of the “Green Alternative” Party Stepan Solovyov and Deputy Head of the Campaign Headquarters of the “Yabloko” Party Vladimir Dorokhov.

The IPA CIS observers informed the participants of the electoral process about the outcomes of the analysis of the electoral legislation of the Russian Federation on its compliance with international standards for democratic elections.

Stepan Solovyov and Vladimir Dorokhov told about the techniques and methods their parties were using in the campaigning, shared their opinions on the introduction of e-voting and three-day voting, whether they had encountered cases of foreign interference in the elections or abuses by Russian election administration authorities.
