Kazakh Senator Askar Shakirov Appointed IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator for Elections in Russian Federation

Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov was appointed the IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator in the elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The decree was signed by Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

The observer team is being formed from among the representatives of the national parliaments of the IPA CIS Member Nations, IPA CIS Council Secretariat staff members and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development (IPA CIS IIMDD).

A delegation of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly will take part in the monitoring of the elections to the State Duma upon the invitation of Speaker of the lower house Vyacheslav Volodin.

The elections are scheduled for 19 September 2021.
