IPA CIS Observers Held Meetings with Election Administration Authorities in Kazakhstan

On 25 May, within the framework of long-term monitoring, international observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, headed by IPA CIS Council Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy, discussed the preparations for the constitutional referendum with Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov. On the same day, the observers met with the leadership and members of the territorial election commissions of Nur-Sultan and Almaty. The events were held via videoconferencing.

During the meeting with the CEC, Dmitriy Kobitskiy informed the CEC representatives about the formation of the IPA CIS International Observer Team and its plans for the short-term referendum monitoring in the Republic of Kazakhstan and in foreign polling stations. International observers discussed the implementation of the Calendar Plan, preparation and technical equipment of territorial and precinct commissions, as well as voting for persons with disabilities.

Nurlan Abdirov told about the training of members of precinct election commissions, events organized for non-governmental organizations, chief editors of the media and public structures working with people with disabilities, the representatives of youth organizations.

During the meeting of the IPA CIS international observers with Chairmen of the territorial election commissions of Nur-Sultan and Almaty Bakhyt Bektemisova and Zhanna Asanova, the parties discussed issues of preparation for voting on 5 June in two cities.
