IPA CIS Observers Honor Heroes of Great Patriotic War

Today, the IPA CIS international observers at the snap elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the referendum to define the form of government laid wreaths and flowers to the Victory Memorial in Bishkek honoring the memory of the Heroes of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The memorial, founded in 1985, constitutes three curved arcs representing a yurt with a sculpture of a woman-mother holding a bowl in her hands and standing under a tunduk near the eternal flame awaiting the return of her husband and sons from the war.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Chair of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Defense, Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues Viktor Zavarzin stressed the input of Kyrgyz people to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. “This is our common memory, which we should never forget” – he stressed.
