IPA CIS Observers Met With Leadership of OSCE ODIHR Observer Mission

As part of the monitoring of the snap elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the referendum to determine the form of government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the IPA CIS observers led by Head of the Mission Vasily Volkov met with Head of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Observer Mission Tamash Messerich. The meeting was also attended by IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator Viktor Zavarzin, Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) Ivan Mushket, Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Viktor Guminskiy and Head of the IPA CIS Observer Mission Headquarters Oleg Kuleba.

During the meeting, Head of the IPA CIS Observer Mission Vasily Volkov thanked the European colleagues for organizing the meeting, said about the IPA CIS observers’ work and shared his impressions of the long-term and short-term monitoring in the Kyrgyz Republic. In total, 138 observers from 8 CIS Member Nations were accredited for the snap elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, 52 of them formed the IPA CIS Observer Team.

Tamash Messerich presented the organization of work of the OSCE/ODIHR Observer Mission, which included 22 observers.

Viktor Zavarzin said about the IPA CIS observers’ work, as well as about the meetings with the presidential candidates and the CEC leadership. He also explained how observation would be organized at polling stations on the election day.
