IPA CIS Observers Visited CEC of Kyrgyz Republic

Within the framework of the short-term monitoring of the referendum on the draft Law on the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, the observers from CIS Interparliamentary Assembly visited the Central Commission on Elections and Referenda of the Kyrgyz Republic and met with its Chairperson Nurzhan Shaildabekova.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Chairman of the Committee of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Ensuring Constitutional Principles, Human and Civil Rights and Freedoms and the Rule of Law, member of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues Dilshod Rahmon informed the CEC leadership on the events to be held within the monitoring.

Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy commended the technical equipment of the polling stations in Kyrgyzstan, noting the country’s experience in this field as the leading for the Commonwealth.

Nurzhan Shaildabekova told the observers about the organization of work during the preparation for the referendum held on the same day with the elections to local kengashes, noting that many shortcomings of previous electoral campaigns had been taken into account.

Chairperson of the Central Commission expressed gratitude to the IPA CIS IIMDD for the consistent work in monitoring the electoral campaigns and supported the proposal of its Director Ivan Musket to hold a conference in the nearest future to discuss the outcomes of the referendum.
