IPA CIS Observers to Monitor Parliamentary Election in Belarus

Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko received a letter signed by Speakers of both chambers of the parliament of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Vladimir Andreichenko, inviting the IPA CIS international observers to take part in monitoring of the parliamentary election in Belarus, which is scheduled for 25 February 2024.

By the order of Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev was appointed the IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator at the parliamentary election to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

On 25 January, the IPA CIS Observers discussed preparations for the parliamentary election to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus with Chair of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus Igor Karpenko. The meeting was held online as part of the long-term monitoring.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – IPA CIS IIMDD Director Ivan Mushket, Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Kogut, Adviser to the Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Sergey Karavaev, IPA CIS IIMDD Deputy Director Elena Eremenko, experts of the IPA CIS IIMDD Dmitry Baryshnikov, Stanislav Epifantsev and Roman Romashov, staff members of the IPA CIS IIMDD, Secretary of the CEC of the Republic of Belarus Elena Baldovskaya, Chair of the Minsk City Election Commission Alexander Shchekovich, and Chair of the Minsk Regional Election Commission Valentina Osadchik.
