Preparations for Presidential Election in Azerbaijan Continue

A working meeting of Chair of the Central Election Commission of the Azerbaijan Republic Mazakhir Panahov with Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Aydin Jafarov and Head of the Baku office of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) Ramin Rzayev was held today in Baku.
The meeting participants discussed preparations for the presidential election in Azerbaijan and monitoring of the electoral campaign by international observers.
A snap presidential election will be held in Azerbaijan on 7 February according to the order of Ilham Aliyev. By today, the CEC has approved 15 candidates for the election.
On behalf of Secretary General of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States Dmitriy Kobitskiy Aydin Jafarov presented Mazakhir Panahov with the medal “IPA CIS. 30 years” at the meeting. The decision on the award was adopted by the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly on 16 November 2023.
