IPA CIS Observers to Monitor Second Round of Presidential Elections in Moldova

The IPA CIS Observer Team includes the CIS MPs and the representatives of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, including the staff members and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development (IPA CIS IIMDD). The Team is headed by member of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Rufat Guliyev.

Before the elections, the observers expert to hold meetings with presidential candidates. On the election day, the members of the Observer Team will work at the polling stations in Chisinau and other settlements of Moldova. The monitoring will be also organized at the polling stations in Baku (Azerbaijan Republic), Minsk (Republic of Belarus), Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russian Federation).

The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly monitors the elections of the President of the Republic of Moldova upon the invitation of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova.

The IPA CIS observers monitor the elections and referenda in the Commonwealth countries since 1994. In their work they are based on the documents adopted by the CIS, which regulate the procedure of organization of international monitoring of the elections, firstly, the Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections, Electoral Rights and Freedoms in the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
