International Youth Parliamentary School Kicked Off in St. Petersburg

From 30 November to 4 December 2021, the International Youth Parliamentary School was held in St. Petersburg. It was attended by more than 30 students from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan and Serbia, who won the second International Student Internet Competition “Electoral Systems of the World”.

The event is organized by the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD), the Eurasia-Volga Region Information and Analytical Center and the Faculty of International Relations of St. Petersburg State University.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy sent his greetings to the Youth Parliamentary School participants. He drew attention to the fact that the event was taking place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the CIS and noted great attention paid by the IPA CIS to the implementation of the right of youth to actively participate in political life.

The students of the school were also greeted by Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of St. Petersburg State University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Irina Novikova, who noted that the main goal of the school was to attract students from CIS leading universities to work jointly on the relevant agenda in the field of youth participation in parliamentarism development and partnership across the Commonwealth.
