Opinions on Prospects for Development of Institute of President in XXI Century Presented at Research Conference

On 23 May, a roundtable on “The Institute of the President in the XXI century: prospects for development” was held at the IPA CIS Parliamentary Center.

The event was held in the framework of the international research and practice conference “The Institute of Presidential Power in the CIS countries”.

The conference was organized by the IPA CIS, the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, the North-West Institute of Management of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation (RANEPA), and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The roundtable was opened by Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD), Doctor of Law, Professor Ivan Mushket.

Head of the Department of Political Institutions and Applied Political Studies of the Faculty of Political Science of St. Petersburg State University, IPA CIS IIMDD expert Olga Popova moderated the roundtable.

Leading researchers and political analysts made presentations during the roundtable.

The roundtable was attended by representatives of the parliamentary corps and election administration bodies of the Commonwealth countries, as well as representatives of the higher-education teaching personnel of the IPA CIS partner universities. The participants of the event presented reports on the development of the institution of presidential power in the Commonwealth countries.
