Prospects of Legal Regulation of Integration Processes in Post-Soviet Space Discussed in St. Petersburg

Today a plenary session ”Legal Regulation of Modern Integration Processes in the Post-Soviet Space. Challenges and Perspectives” was held within the framework of the All-Russian Research and Practice Conference ”Problems of Law in Modern Russia. Integration of Legal Systems (dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the USSR)”. The High School of Jurisprudence and Forensic Technical Examination of the Institute of Humanities of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University organized the conference.

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the IPA CIS IIMDD Ivan Mushket and his Deputy Elena Eremenko attended the plenary session.

Ivan Mushket delivered the welcoming speech of Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy to the participants of the event. The message noted the high activity of integration processes in the CIS space and the important role played by the IPA CIS in harmonizing and bringing together the laws of the participating states.

Noting the threat to state sovereignty posed by external interference in electoral processes, Dmitriy Kobitskiy spoke about the development of the Recommendations on Countering Foreign Electoral Intervention, which are aimed at coordinating the efforts of public authorities of the CIS Member Nations in this field.

Dmitriy Kobitskiy also spoke about the prospects for the development of integration processes. An example was the initiative to establish an Advisory Council of Heads of CIS Electoral Authorities, initiated by the Republic of Uzbekistan and supported by the Government and the President of the Russian Federation.
