Kazakh President Proposed to Hold Republican Referendum on Amendments to Constitution

On 29 April 2022, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the 31^st session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan “Unity of the People as the Basis of Renewed Kazakhstan”.

In his speech, the President pointed to the tense geopolitical situation, which leads to the emergence of new challenges. In his opinion, in the current situation, special attention should be paid to strengthening civic identity and fostering the spirit of patriotism. According to the press service, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also identified the main priorities for the activities of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. The President stressed that Kazakhstan had embarked on the path of decisive transformations in all fields of life. The initiated amendments to the Constitution are expected to be fundamental and radically change the political system of the country.
