Senators and Experts Made Proposals to Improve Election Observation

On 6 October 2022, a roundtable “Election Observation” took place within the framework of the international research and practice conference “CIS Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections: Open Space for International Cooperation”.

Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Judicial and Legal Issues and Counteraction to Corruption, member of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues Shukhrat Chulliev and Head of the Division for CIS Observer Mission Support of the CIS Executive Committee Evgeniy Kozyak moderated the event.

During the roundtable, presentations were made by the moderators of the event Shukhrat Chulliev and Evgeniy Kozyak, member of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, Member of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Practices of State-Building and Local Government Oleg Tsepkin, Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat — Director of the IPA CIS IIMDD Ivan Mushket and other representatives of public authorities and academic community.

At the end of the roundtable, the participants discussed the issues raised during the reports and exchanged views on the practice and prospects for the development of the election observation institution, possible cooperation between public and international observers, as well as the possibility of developing a unified methodology for holding election observation.
