Turkmenistan Holds Parliamentary Elections

49 IPA CIS observers took part in monitoring of elections in Turkmenistan. On 8 March, the monitoring began in all regions of the country.
On 26 March, Voting took place at 2644 polling stations within the country and four abroad. There were about 3.5 million people in the voter register, and another 13 thousand citizens of the country could vote in foreign polling stations. According to the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan, 91.12% of voters voted in the parliamentary elections.
This was the first election since the transition from a bicameral to a unicameral parliament system.
