Director IIMDD IPA CIS takes part in the meeting of the Council at the President of the Russian Federation on Promoting Civil Society and Human Rights

The meeting in Moscow focused on the civic participation in election monitoring.

In his speech, Andrey Baranov highlighted matters of setting-up election monitoring from the perspective of different stakeholders, observation rights, and legal regulation of observer missions. He emphasized the role of NGOs in observing elections and their engagement with other stakeholders to the election process. He expressed the opinion that NGOs could cooperate with political parties on the organization of observing missions to seek respect in the political sphere and, further, to get a legitimate right to take part in election observation.
