Final press conference of the CIS Observer Mission was held in Baku

The final press conference of the CIS Observer Mission in the run-up to the presidential election in the Republic of Azerbaijan took place in Baku.

According to the Head of the Mission, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev, the CIS Observer Mission believes that the elections on 11 April 2018 were held in full compliance with the national legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Coordinator of the IPA CIS ObserverTeam, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Ilyas Umakhanov reported that the electoral legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan meets the international standards for democratic elections. The Central Election Commission has done a lot of work to learn and train members of electoral commissions. The pre-election campaign was held without violations, 58 thousand national observers participated in the monitoring of the process on the Election Day.
