IIMDD IPA CIS Baku Office Held Seminar for Local Observers in Ganja

According to the decision of the Central Election Commission of the Azerbaijan Republic, municipal elections will be held on 23 December 2019. On 27 November 2019, as part of the preparation for the electoral campaign, the IIMDD IPA CIS Baku Office held a seminar for local observers in Ganja in order to raise the legal awareness of citizens in performing public monitoring of the elections.

The participants were informed on the basics of the election legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic, including the provisions regulating the organization and conduct of observation during the election campaign. Moreover, the participants were briefed on the monitoring principles laid down in the Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections, Electoral Rights and Freedoms in the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as on the experience of the activities of the IPA CIS Observer Teams.

During the seminar, the staff members of the IIMDD IPA CIS Baku Office, duly accredited by the Central Election Commission as local observers, got acquainted with the work of several district election commissions in Ganja.
