IIMDD IPA CIS Baku Office Prepares for Municipal Elections Monitoring

According to the decision of the Central Election Commission of the Azerbaijan Republic, the municipal elections will be held on 23 December 2019. As a part of the preparation for electoral campaign, the IIMDD IPA CIS Baku Office held a seminar for local Observer Teams in Baku in order to raise the legal awareness of citizens while performing public monitoring.

The participants of the seminar learned the basics of the electoral legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic, including the provisions regulating organization and conduct of elections. The participants were informed on the principles of monitoring laid down in the Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections, Electoral Rights and Freedoms in the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States and on the experience of their implementation by the IPA CIS Observer Teams.

During the seminar, IIMDD IPA CIS Baku Office provided the participants with instructions for local public observers prepared by the Office.
