IIMDD IPA CIS Bishkek Office Holds Seminar “Basic Principles of Democratic Elections”

The IIMDD IPA CIS Bishkek Office and K. Karasaev Bishkek State University co-organized the seminar “Basic Principles of Democratic Elections” for professors and students specializing in Political Science, Social Science and State and Municipal Management.
Head of the Department for Science, Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies of K. Karasaev Bishkek State University Bakytbek Kozhoev opened the meeting and stressed the high relevance of the seminar for strengthening the teachers’ and students’ competence. Deputy Director of the IIMDD IPA CIS Sergey Karavaev, Deputy Director of the IIMDD IPA CIS Bishkek Office Arstanbek Abdullaev and K. Karasaev Bishkek State University staff members Baktybek Seiytbaev, Samarbek Syrgabaev and Bakytbek Maltabarov made presentations at the seminar.
The participants discussed the issues of the involvement of the Kyrgyz Republic youth in political life of the country, opinion polls conducted during the elections, women’s participation in political processes, standards of democratic elections, suffrage and electoral freedoms in democratic society. During the discussion, the experts shared opinions on electoral processes in the Kyrgyz Republic, foreign countries’ experience in this sphere, main trends of development in electoral legislation and implementation of progressive improvements into electoral practice.
