IPA CIS Observers Begin Long-Term Elections Monitoring in Belarus

On 15 October 2019, the observers visited Vitebsk and held a meeting with Chairman of Vitebsk Oblast Electoral Commission Dmitry Khoma. The Chairman provided the observers with the information on the electoral campaign, including on the formation of district and local electoral commissions in Vitebsk oblast and its staff training. The observers informed the Chairman on the mechanism of the team formation and the monitoring plans in the Vitebsk oblast.

Later the observers visited Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee and held a meeting with Deputy Chairman Vladimir Penin, who informed them on the preparation of the upcoming elections.

The members of the observer team also visited a number of district electoral commissions.
