IPA CIS observers continue their work in Chisinau

IPA CIS international observers, headed by the Team Coordinator, Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bektas Beknazarov held a series of meetings in Chisinau within the framework of the short-term monitoring mission at the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova.
On 22 February, the observers visited the campaign headquarters of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova and met with its leader Zinaida Greceanii. At the meeting the PSRM Chairperson summed up the preliminary results of the final electoral campaign, focusing on a number of problems in the field of election administration, in particular, with the transfer of polling places for citizens living in Transnistria to other settlements of the Republic, often located in remote areas.
The observers met with Chair of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova Alina Russu. CEC Chair noted the great importance of international observation to improve the election administration system and highlighted the results of electoral bodies' activities during the electoral campaign.
The Observer Team met with the Democratic Party HQ Head Ivan Chebotar in the campaign headquarters of the Democratic Party of the Republic of Moldova. They also visited the campaign headquarters of the ACUM, formed through merging the two political parties, the Platform Dignity and Truth and the Action and Solidarity.
