IPA CIS observers discussed planned efforts at the elections to the State Douma of the Russian Federation

IPA CIS international observers held kick-off meeting in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

In Moscow, the team was led by Coordinator, Chair of the Committee on International Affairs of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Almzabek Baatyrbekov. He informed the participants on the composition of the team and the objectives for the short-term observation meeting at the parliamentary elections to the Russian upper chamber.

MP of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rufat Guliyev has been mandated for the role of deputy coordinator of the team, leading the mission's efforts in St. Petersburg.

Chief of IIMDD IPA CIS expert group Stanislav Tkachenko told the participants about the procedure of elections, ways of agitation and the compliance of the Russian electoral law with international standards of democratic elections.

Director of IIMDD IPA CIS Dmitry Gladei in Moscow and Deputy Director of IIMDD IPA CIS Denis Zhuk in St. Petersburg shared with the colleagues on the rules and plans of the team during the short-term mission, its routes on the E-Day.

IPA CIS observers will monitor the election process in Moscow, St. Petersburg and their regions, as well as at polling stations beyond Russia – in Baku, Yerevan, Mins, Bishkek, Chisinau and Dushanbe.

The IPA CIS observer team includes 52 observes represented by MPs, senior government officials from IPA CIS member nations, IPA CIS Secretariat members and IIMDD IPA CIS experts.
