IPA CIS Observers Established Work Program for Parliamentary Elections in Republic of Tajikistan

The IPA CIS international observers began short-term monitoring at the elections to the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on 1 March 2020. They met in Dushanbe this morning to define the objectives and tasks of the monitoring, as well as the work program for the next days.

The event was opened by Coordinator of the IPA CIS Observer Team, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Inoyatov and Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy. They presented the team and outlined the main principles and norms to be followed by the observers.

The participants of the meeting go acquainted with the analytical and information materials on the results of long-term monitoring conducted by staff members of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IIMDD IPA CIS).

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Director of the IIMDD IPA CIS Ivan Mushket informed the members of the monitoring group on the work program for the next few days, the planned meetings and the observers’ schedules on the election day on 1 March 2020.

Today, the IPA CIS Observer Team will meet with Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloev, Chairperson of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Republic of Tajikistan Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda and the leadership of a number of parties involved in the ongoing electoral campaign.
