IPA CIS Observers Meet Representatives of Parties and Public Associations of Belarus

Within the framework of the international conference “Election Institution as a Mechanism of Public Authority Legitimation”, the IPA CIS international observers held meetings with the party leaders and heads of public associations of the Republic of Belarus.
The meeting was attended by member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Sergey Gaidukevich, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus Georgy Atamanov, Chair of the Republican Labor and Justice Party Vasily Zadnepryany, Deputy Chairman of the Republican Public Association “Belaya Rus” Sergey Pigarev and Secretary of the Central Committee of Belarusian Republican Youth Union Alexandra Goncharova.
IIMDD IPA CIS Acting Director Ekaterina Goloulina informed the participants on the activities of the institute on the long-term monitoring of the electoral campaign and organization of the effective short-term monitoring. The representatives of political parties and public associations informed the observers on the candidates’ nomination process, the collection of signatures and the campaigning preparation.
Following the discussion, the participants agreed to hold similar meetings as part of the upcoming short-term monitoring of the elections.
