IPA CIS Observers Performed On-line Monitoring of Elections at Different Polling Stations in Azerbaijan Republic

The elections to the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic are completed, the ballot counting is conducted. The members of the Observer Team of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly performed monitoring of the remote polling stations by web cameras.

The broadcasting covered about 20 percent of the polling stations in 119 constituencies. More than 1000 web cameras transmitting the images to the special website of the Central Election Commission of the Azerbaijan Republic. The web cameras showed all the stages of voting: opening of the polling stations, voting process, ballot counting and compilation of the results.

The observers noted that the majority of the polling stations started broadcasting before the beginning of the voting, which allowed to observe the implementation of procedures of preparation the premises, securing the ballot boxes and preparation of the commission’s work. In the majority of cases the installation of the cameras enabled to observe the voting process. However, according to the observers, at some polling stations the cameras should be adjusted.

The conclusion of the IPA CIS international observers at the elections to the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic will be declared tomorrow, on 10 February, during the press conference of the CIS Observer Mission.
