Polling Stations Opened in Azerbaijan Republic - IPA CIS Observer Team Perform Election Monitoring

IPA CIS observers monitor the snap elections to the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic. Today, the observers have already attended the opening of a number of polling stations, sealing of ballot boxes and the beginning of the voting process.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, First Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoyev and Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy monitored the beginning of work of polling stations № 2 and № 4 in the Sabail district of Baku.

During the day, the MPs from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the IIMDD IPA CIS staff members plan to visit district election commissions and polling stations located in different areas of the capital. Monitoring of the remote areas is carried out through online surveillance via webcams.

The mission’s main objective is to collect the maximum amount of information to prepare a balanced and objective conclusion based on the results of the observation.

Before the elections, the IPA CIS Observer Team held meetings with the officials of Central Election Commission and the Constitutional Court of the Azerbaijan Republic, as well as political parties participating in the elections.
