IPA CIS Observers started long-term monitoring of elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The IPA CIS International Observer Team composed of IPA CIS IIMDD experts started long-term monitoring of the snap elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty. The observers visited the Maslikhat and the City Election Commission and met with the leadership of the headquarters of the three presidential candidates.

During a conversation, the Maslikhat Secretary Kaldybay Kazanbayev informed them in detail that in January 2019, 562 election commissions of various levels with the participation of representatives of five political parties and public organizations were formed in the city.

Chair of the City Election Commission Zhanna Asanova noted the format of training for new members of election commissions in a “cascade model”. The Commissioners trained by the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan act as trainers for the rest of the electoral commissions.

Representatives of HQs of all presidential candidates expressed their intention to involve national observers on the E-day and discussed training for them. They said that there are no current violations of the law during the election campaign.
