IPA CIS observers started short-term monitoring at the parliamentary elections to the Majilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The IPA CIS international observers are arriving in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for the short-term monitoring of the parliamentary elections to the Majilis of the Parliament.

Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, Valekh Askerov, mandated Vice Speaker of Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan to coordinate the IPA CIS international observer team.

The team consists of 42 people including MPs and representatives of legislative authorities from the IPA CIS member states: the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, IPA CIS Council Secretariat staff members, experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democratic Development, Parliamentarism and Suffrage Protection of the Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IIMDD IPA CIS).

The group will monitor the election in Astana, Almaty, Akmolinskaya, Almatinskaya and Karagandinskaya regions of Kazakhstan, and also on the polling stations abroad in Baku, Erevan, Minsk, Bishkek, Moscow, and St. Petersburg. On 15 March, the IPA CIS observers in Moscow had a meeting with the leadership of the polling station in the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation (station # 215) and reviewed the preparation to the voting.
