IPA CIS observers started short-term monitoring of the presidential elections in the Kyrghyz Republic

The IPA CIS international observers held an organizational meeting in the capital of the Kyrghyz Republic. Coordinator of the Observer Team, Deputy Chair of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Defense Victor Zavarzin informed the participants of the meeting about their work tasks for their short-term monitoring mission.

Director of the International Institute of Monitoring Democracy, Parliamentarism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of the IPA CIS Member Nations Dmitriy Gladey spoke about the agenda of the IPA CIS international observers in Bishkek and their work plans for the voting day in Issyk-Kul, Naryn and Chui regions.

The representatives of the Institute informed he participants of the meeting about the main results of the work of the expert group, as well as about the observation efforts outside the polling stations held on 14 October 2017.

On the same day international observers held meetings with Nurzhan Shaydalbekova, Heaf of the Central Election Commission on conducting elections and referenda in the Kyrgyz Republic, and with Tolkunbek Abdygulov First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Kyrghyz Republic, Head of Office for Preparation and Conducting of the Elections of the President of the Kyrghyz Republic.

Also the international observers participated in the briefing Transparency and Credibility of Elections and Referendums in the Kyrghyz Republic – the Use of Information Electoral System organized by the CEC. Modern technologies and equipment used at polling stations during the voting process were presented at the briefing.

The Observer Team consists of 29 observers including MPs and representatives of legislative authorities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia and Tajikistan, as well as the IPA CIS Council Secretariat staff and the IPA CIS IIMDD experts.
